Design Team Assembled!

The Design Team recommended moving forward with architect Presbytera Mirela Tudora as the parish's design consultant.  She is an experienced architect who has designed several orthodox churches that have been/are being built in the OCA (http://mirela-tudora.squarespace.com).  She will be working closely with a local architect, Micah Martin, of Abbotts Creek Design Studio (https://www.abbottscreekstudio.com) to develop conceptual sketches and a preliminary site plan for our future church home.  Micah comes highly recommended to us by Andrew Wells, principal member of RPM Partners (general contracting firm who we hope to work with for our building and recently completed the temple for Holy Cross in Kernersville (https://www.holycrossoca.org/building/building.html).  The recommendations for the two architects were approved by the parish council at their meeting last week, and we are working towards scheduling a project kickoff meeting with all involved parties on March 8-9.  We anticipate Pres. Mirela visiting our parish and meeting with the design team in person at that time.  She has already provided us with a few high-level concept drawings that the design team is reviewing and preparing to provide feedback.  God willing, we hope to have some preliminary renderings to show to the parish around Pascha.  In parallel with this, we are working with our civil engineer team to put together the necessary information for a preliminary site plan approval review meeting with the City of Durham once all the necessary information can be compiled.  Please keep the Design Team members and this project in your prayers, and stay tuned for further updates in future weekly emails.
